Corrections

BJP state unit has brought to our notice that there is no Joint Action Committee (JAC) constituted by the party and the party has nothing to do with it. The party has constituted a Sub-Committee under the banner of Jan Andolan Committee headed by Tame Phassang.

The name of Taloko Darang of Komsing village, who was felicitated by media fraternity for his pioneering role in horticulture, was wrongly mentioned as Takong Darang in the lead news published in this daily on Nov 18 last.  The inadvertent errors are regretted.

ISIS threat should be taken seriously

The Islamic state group which created mayhem by killing 130 people at Paris is fast emerging as a global threat. India which has been victim of terrorism since many decades will have to be more careful about the ISIS threat. As per the report in national media nearly 150 Indians are on the radar of intelligence agencies for actively following Islamic State propaganda and engaging on social media with pro-IS elements. A majority of those under surveillance are from the southern states.

Also six Indian recruits are believed to have got killed in IS territory in the last one year. All these are not a good signal for India.  Even though home minister Rajnath Singh recently claimed that country is ready to take ISIS head on but security expert believes that India will have to take more steps to thwart any potential future threat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been emphasizing on the need to cut financial route to neutralize the terrorist organizations. It looks like government is seriously working towards it. According to the latest report by global anti-financial terror body, Financial Action Task Force,  India has frozen assets worth more than 2 crore rupees.  As part of India's initiative against suspect funds and those related to terrorism, the country has frozen assets to the tune of 3 lakh Euros belonging to 37 entities till August 15th this year. Government of India should be appreciated for tightening the belt against terror funding. Also India should extend cooperation with west and Arab world to fight the ISIS threat. More intelligence sharing should be done.

Reduce air pollution

Dear Editor'

This is regarding level of air pollution which seems to be growing more in big towns and cities.

Recently, I traveled to Itanagar where I could detect the most dangerous level of air pollution due to various reasons.

We know that polluted air affects our respiratory system and all types of fatal diseases are invited by it. Animals, birds and humans of all age group die due to pollution.

As a concern human being, I want to find simple ways to reduce the quantum of air pollution. Our govt is initiating needful step to reduce its quantum by carrying out mass awareness about it.

However, I do not think govt alone would be able to reduce the dangerous level of air pollution so it is high time for common people to plant green saplings to refresh and reduce the air pollution. If we are dedicated and determined to stop pollution, we can live in peace and liberated from air pollution.

To plant green saplings is simple and its job is noble.

Work for the interest of the community

Dear Editor,

We have been closely observing that the political forces and anti-social elements are utilizing the members of our own community in targeting the political and social figures as well as the officers of the community who are rendering yeoman service to the community selflessly and the state as a whole. This meticulous plan to generate infighting within the community is unpleasant and not digestible. Morality and politics is at the lowest ebb at this juncture in the political history of Arunachal Pradesh.

Economically poor, politically frustrated coupled with power hunger, mentally weak and unsound, unpatriotic, immoral socially out casted and disgruntled handful members of the community are the easy prey of such divisive forces active at its peak now.

The Nyishi Community vehemently condemns the lesser known organization of Arunachal Justice Forum (AJP) who during its Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, has used our traditional dress of our community. No individual is allowed to misuse the traditional dress of any community or tribe.

It is therefore also warned that individual member of the so called justice forum refrain from such malafide intention for achieving their selfish political ends.

Therefore, enough is enough, we warn such forces to refrain themselves as we have tolerated to the upper limit of patience and urge upon them to come back to our social fold in the best interest of the community.

Yours,

Tadar Nyokum
